Sheriff Fuller gave safety talks to many children on a beautiful bright sunny day. He was accompanied by several Reserve Deputies and an Explorer. The children and adults toured the two Tahoes that we had on site. It was a great event and very well attended!
Search and Rescue Training in Kent County that was held September 20-22, 2013. A great practical learning experience. During the final day of training Officers Balkema and Jokela found the missing person who was armed. Balkema disarmed her without being shot with the air soft weapon that he had when she charged at him. Officer Jokela gave chase to her when she tried to escape and carried her back to the group.
Local Public Safety Departments participated in the celebration of Memorial Day in Bronson Park including the Kalamazoo County Sheriff Reserve Division. The Honor Guard did an outstanding job posting the colors. The Mounted Division were also on hand looking very sharp as well as a number of other officers.
Our Range Instructors helped provide a valuable day of training and instruction at the summer open shoot.
We are proud to have new recruits for our 2014 Academy! Our first night of class on January 13, 2014 went well as the recruits got an introduction to the Sheriff’s Office, instructors, and equipment.
