SAR Training September of 2013

Search and Rescue Training in Kent County that was held September 20-22, 2013. A great practical learning experience. During the final day of training Officers Balkema and Jokela found the missing person who was armed. Balkema disarmed her without being shot with the air soft weapon that he had when she charged at him. Officer Jokela gave chase to her when she tried to escape and carried her back to the group.

Lighthouse Community Church Traffic Control 2013

Reserve Deputies Conley and Jokela at the Lighthouse Community Church on Saturday December 14, 2013. During our shift we took a hot chocolate warm up break while conducting traffic control at the Living Nativity. Which was attended by approximately 1,000 people. We were well received by everyone. This was a very nice event that we made a lot of friends for the department. The Kalamazoo County Sheriff Reserve Division supplied officers each night for the 4 night event.
